The fellow legend believes it will be a 'sad day' when Gerrard leaves Anfield.
The former England captain is bringing an end to his lifelong association with the club this summer, joining LA Galaxy on a free transfer.
And there is no doubt that the day he leaves Liverpool will be a a sad one, just judging by the immediate reaction to his declaration.
One man who will also be sad is a fellow Liverpool legend. Robbie Fowler, who was also a former team-mates of Gerrard, was in Australia this week to watch the Aussies take on India in test cricket.
He was asked by commentator Adam Gilchrist, whilst sitting next to fellow former Liverpool player Jason McAteer, of his feelings on Gerrard's departure and had the following to say, as broadcast on Sky Sports:
"Yeah he is an unbelievable player I think wherever he goes he goes with everyone's wishes from the club. He's been a fantastic player for Liverpool and I think, if we are being honest, he has probably carried Liverpool for years and years. I mean it will be a very, very sad day to see him go, it will be very surreal to see him in another shirt, other than a Liverpool one."
Liverpool fans will not argue with the fact that Gerrard has been their star for many years, but they will hope Brendan Rodgers and co have a decent replacement lined up.
