Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has backed Arsenal to get the better of Stoke City on Sunday.
Arsenal have the better team on paper and also have a certain Alexis Sanchez, but Arsene Wenger’s side have not looked that great recently.
The North London outfit started the New Year with a 2-0 defeat to Southampton away from home in the league, before beating Hull City 2-0 at home in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Stoke and Arsenal met each other as recently as December 6. On that occasion, the Potters edged it 3-2 at the Britannia Stadium, but former Liverpool defender Carragher predicts the Gunners to pick up all three points on Sunday.
“Stoke away is notoriously difficult for Arsenal, but they’ve not had similar problems at home,” the 36-year-old told Sky Sports. “They’ve won all six Premier League games against Stoke at the Emirates Stadium.
“Arsenal are just a different proposition at home, they find it difficult with those types of games away from home, but you must say they are favoured at the Emirates on a big, open pitch.
“But Stoke have had some good away days, they’ve beaten Man City, Tottenham and Everton, plus Mark Hughes has been a Premier League manager for a long time now and always makes it difficult for the opposition. But it’s a game you expect Arsenal to win.”
Arsenal will head into this weekend’s round of matches in the Premier League placed sixth in the table with 33 points from 20 matches, while Stoke are 11th with 26 points.
