Liverpool great Mark Lawrenson has backed Crystal Palace to win the Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Eagles will head into the clash at Selhurst Park as the underdogs and placed third from bottom in the league table.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are on a nine-game unbeaten run and are just two points behind fourth-placed Southampton in fifth.
However, Lawrenson predicts Alan Pardew’s Palace to win on Saturday and told BBC Sport: “Tottenham have only lost twice away from home in the Premier League this season - to joint leaders Manchester City and Chelsea - which is a great record.
“But Crystal Palace were a bit unlucky not to beat them at White Hart Lane at the start of December, and they will have another go at them on Saturday.
“The atmosphere for Alan Pardew's first home game in charge of the Eagles could play a big part in the outcome, and I have a feeling that he will mark it with a victory.”
Lawrenson predicts, perhaps a bit boldly, a 2-0 win for relegation-threatened Palace, and it is unlikely to be seen favourably by the Tottenham fans.
Although the 57-year-old does have a point about the Palace fans’ excitement for the match, it needs to be kept in mind that ultimately it is the players who win games.
Tottenham have the superior team, which means that the Palace players will have to step up and play to the best of their abilities.
If they don’t, then they won’t win.
