The Bluebirds have taken a few by surprise with their purchase of 31-year-old striker Alex Revell from fellow Championship side Rotherham United. Revell has been somewhat of a journeyman throughout his career with Cardiff City now becoming his 10th club.
Russell Slade already has huge competition amongst his strikers at the club with Adam Le Fondre, Federico Macheda, Kenwyne Jones and Nicky Maynard all proven at this level. Revell gives them slightly different now, and he can cause problems for defences with his imposing figure.
However Cardiff City's aim for this season is obviously promotion, so any signings would have to be looked at in the hope they can have an impact in the Premier League too. Alex Revell doesn't fall into that category.
Rotherham United fans will be disappointed to see him go especially after his impact in the promotion winning campaign in League One last season. He scored two goals in the play-off final against Leyton Orient managed by Slade. One of those goals was a superb 40-yard dipping half-volley. With that in mind how have Cardiff City fans reacted to his arrival?
Here is a collection of views from Rotherham and Cardiff fans on the signing:
