Italian newspaper TMW claims AS Roma star Miralem Pjanic reacted negatively to the prospect of linking up with Liverpool, preferring to stay at current side Roma.
The 24-year-old midfielder has reportedly been identified by the Anfield club as a transfer target for Brendan Rodgers, but he’ll have his work cut out if reports of their interest are accurate.
Pjanic, previously reported as a target for Manchester United, does have all of the attributes and characteristics needed to replace Steven Gerrard, who recently announced that he would be joining LA Galaxy.
However, what could prevent a deal is Pjanic’s fee, with United seemingly being put off of a deal in the past because of his £25 million price tag.
With his current contract at Roma not expiring until 2018, the Serie A giants are unlikely to drop their demands in terms of wanting top price for one of their most talented young midfielders.
