Tottenham Hotspur face a familiar threat in their attempts to sign wonderkid Adrien Bongiovanni.
The Belgian youngster has been linked with a switch to Spurs after his agent confirmed last month the club were interested in his signature.
The 15-year-old plays for Standard Liege, with newspaper LaMeuse previously quoting him as stating: “It is as a playmaker I feel better. My pleasure is to play in others. It is this role that I prefer.” The same report goes onto liken Bongiovanni to Spurs legend Luka Modric.
Italian website TMW now report Serie A side Roma have identified him as a top target amid their efforts to build a side which can go on to dominate in the future.
Tottenham are currently battling with Roma to sign another highly rated talent, Ezequiel Ponce of Argentine side Newell's Old Boys.
It's little surprise the clubs are at odds in this way with Tottenham director of football Franco Baldini having joined the club from Roma in 2013, that the clubs share philosophies in terms of recruitment and are embattled to secure the world's top rising talents.
