The reason, however, is not through any lack of faith in the 21-year-old Spurs striker - but rather his importance to the England Under-21 side.
Roy Hodgson is said to consider Kane more than good enough for an international call-up, although he is also said to be in agreement with Under-21 boss Gareth Southgate that the Tottenham forward will be needed in the Under-21 European Championships this summer.
That could delay the Spurs striker's full England call-up until next season, the Mirror suggest.
“We have watched [Kane] for a while and I worked with him briefly in the Under-21s when I filled in for one game," Hodgson said of the young forward recently.
“Harry has come on in leaps and bounds and I’m not surprised because I know Tim Sherwood and Les Ferdinand very well. They have worked with him at Tottenham and they always believed in him as a goalscorer."
