Potential Leeds United signing Sol Bamba need look no further than a former star for the lowdown on life at the club.
Leeds United have been linked with signing powerhouse defender Sol Bamba, who shares a bond with a popular former player of the club.
He is an international teammate of Max Gradel, who spent almost two full seasons at Elland Road, becoming a fan favourite before being sold to French side St Etienne.
Bamba and Gradel are pictured above (centre) wearing the number 22 and 15 shirts for the Ivory Coast at an African Nations Cup tournament as they watched an agonising penalty shootout.
The centre-back currently plays for Palermo and has been touted for a loan move this January, and should he need the lowdown on life at Leeds, his pal Gradel may well be getting a phone call.
Bamba played previously in the Championship with Leicester City, joining a season after Gradel had switched to Leeds.
He too became a popular figure at the Foxes, with fans disappointed when he was sold to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
Gradel himself is a player Leeds fans would dearly love to return, and would instantly solve their lack of width which head coach Neil Redfearn has identified as a problem. This however is a non-starter at present with the winger signing a new contract earlier this season at St Etienne, and Leeds' transfer embargo.
There could be a slight chance if Bamba signs on loan, and stays until summer, he would have a word with Gradel to bend his ear about a return, but right one Leeds would simply be glad to get the defender through the door.
Leeds have a chance to sign four players on loan still despite their embargo but are yet to make their first move.
