Personal trainer overseeing Sturridge's return has encouraging update for Liverpool fans

Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge continues to work hard in his recovery from a thigh problem.

The man overseeing Daniel Sturridge’s return to fitness has assured Liverpool fans that the forward is working as hard as possible to get back to full fitness.

Sturridge has been out of action since he developed a thigh problem while away with England during an international break last year and his return this year will provide the current side with a welcome boost.

Brendan Rodgers’ hands have been tied in terms of the attacking options he has available, with Raheem Sterling used up front in recent games as Mario Balotelli has failed to find any form while Rickie Lambert has also struggled.

“Daniel has an incredible work ethic and is wonderful to work with. He is a class act and has a bright future ahead,” personal trainer Scott Schrimscher told the Liverpool Echo.

“The methodology we utilized with Daniel is supported by four main pillars: mindset, movement, nutrition, and recovery and it is that holistic and seamlessly integrated system that helps players of all levels improve their performance on the pitch.”

That seems like a very glitzy list of words to use but in short, Sturridge is working as hard and as much as he can do to return to action.

The reason he’s so important for the club isn’t just because of the mental boost his return would provide, it’s because of the way he converts chances and makes the most of the hard work from midfield.

He also showed last season with his partnership alongside Luis Suarez, that he’s capable of creating chances and making space for other players to use and exploit against the opposition.

As things stand, there’s no clear return date but if Sturridge is available before the end of the season, then he could well end up being the difference between Liverpool secure Champions League football or being confined to another season playing European games on a Thursday night.
