Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has been singing the praises of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
The 25-year-old has scored three goals and created 10 chances in 15 league appearances, while having a pass accuracy of 89% and a shot accuracy of 42%.
There have been suggestions that Schneiderlin could be tempted away from Southampton this month, with North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both said to be keen on the former Strasbourg star.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher is impressed with the midfielder and backs him for a move to a big club in the future.
“Schneiderlin is one of Saints’ top players, we know that,” the 36-year-old told Sky Sports when asked if Schneiderlin is a top-four midfielder. “In the summer Mauricio Pochettino wanted to take him to Tottenham, he knows him well.
“He’s so suited to the Premier League; he’s a good physical presence, has good energy, and I don’t think it will just be Arsenal. If Schneiderlin became available, lots of top teams will be looking at him.”
Southampton are unlikely to sell Schneiderlin in the January transfer window because they are in the running for a top-four finish in the Premier League. However, the Frenchman would be prised away in the summer.
