The move for the 21-year-old Spaniard had been mooted for some time with his contract at Anfield expiring in the summer, after it was reported the Reds couldn't agree terms with Suso over a new deal to keep him at the club.
The reaction from Liverpool fans on twitter was a degree of disappointment that one of their more promising young talents was leaving the club for nothing more than anything, but a degree of acknowledgement that it was a good move for his career as he was at the age where he needed to play on a more regular basis.
If he were to stay at Liverpool he would have had some trouble getting into the first team with the Reds well stocked in the positions he operates in - with Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic all capable of playing in an advanced position either centrally or off the flank.
Unfortunately, the Spaniard's chances have not been helped this season because of a groin injury, and he has only just returned to full training.
After making 21 appearances for the club, scoring one goal in competitive matches, Suso's Anfield career has seemingly come to an end. Here is what a few fans had to say:
Suso gone. Shame but the right move for his career it looks like.— Kop 305 (@Kop305) January 7, 2015
Maybe Suso has ended his relationship with Enrique and that's why he has left?— Tom (@BreckRoadOne) January 7, 2015
We better have secured buy options for Suso later. Who knows what he will become with consistent playing time.— Aleksandar K. (@wotwot130) January 7, 2015
Unsure whether Suso was ever gonna make it here, but letting someone with his talent go for free is criminal— Conor Freel (@ConorFreel) January 7, 2015
Why we're selling Suso and haven't bothered playing him much this season is beyond me #LFC— Holl. (@hollie_lfc) January 7, 2015
Suso might not be a blast but we could have at least got some money. Now we are truly not going to buy anyone in this window— Football #LFC (@LFC_Philling) January 7, 2015
lol i swear no LFC fan cared about Suso until yesterday & today.— Luke T Arendse (@Luke__CPT) January 7, 2015
Hate seeing young talent like Suso leave but his chances were always going to be limited. Good move for him #LFC— Daniel Gore (@KoptimusPrime) January 7, 2015
