Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has highlighted two factors that will help his side win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Palace will take on their London rivals Spurs at Selhurst Park in the Premier League and will head into the game as the underdogs.
Tottenham are on a run of seven games without defeat and are currently fifth in the league table, while the Eagles are third from bottom.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be expected to win on Saturday, but Pardew has underlined two factors that could work in his team’s favour.
“Tottenham were terrific against Chelsea and this has been a great period for them,” the Englishman told reporters today. “We’ll try to knock them off their stride.
“The place is going to be jumping for us (on Saturday) and we'll be looking to exploit that. Tottenham are beatable, like all teams. They have tremendous technical players but the pitch may help us - it'll play a part.”
It seems that Pardew is banking on the fans and the pitch to aid Palace’s cause against Tottenham, but the Eagles will need much more than that to pick up the three points on Saturday.
The Palace players will need to step up their game against Tottenham and give their all. They should also try to score first and force their opponents to go on the backfoot early on.
As Pardew himself says, Spurs have “tremendous technical players” who can change the outcome of a match in the blink of an eye.
