Video: Mauro Icardi scores for Inter against Juve, Kovacic sent off

The Milan-based outfit grabbed a point in Turin thanks to the Argentine’s neat finish but were reduced to ten men before the end.

Inter Milan returned to Serie A action last night after the mid-season break with arguably the hardest game in Italian football - travelling to take on champions Juventus in Turin.

After falling behind to Carlos Tevez’s well-worked opener, Argentine striker Mauro Icardi equalised for the visitors with a neat finish that can be seen below.

The former Sampdoria forward has been in excellent form this term for the Nerazzurri, with the strike against the champions taking his Serie A goal tally to nine for the campaign.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham have been linked with a move for the South American hitman of late and it is clear that Icardi could well be a success in England given his eye for goal.

The Blues have Diego Costa leading their line and as such Icardi would struggle for game time, but Spurs are in need of a proven goalscorer to take some of the burden off Harry Kane.

Inter’s efforts were almost in vain however as Roberto Mancini’s men were forced to hang on for grim death after being reduced to ten men in the 86th minute.

Croatian playmaker Mateo Kovacic flew into a challenge with Juve right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner in the dying moments and was shown a straight red card, as can be seen above.

The result means that Juventus’ lead at the top of the table is reduced to a single point, while Inter are still toiling in 11th place.
