Italian newspaper TMW claims it’s no longer a dream for Sampdoria to be able to target a player of Samuel Eto’o’s quality.
The Everton striker has been used moderately by Roberto Martinez at Everton so far this season, but he’s contracted to the Goodison Park club until 2016.
The Serie A side are reportedly keen on offering him a route to Italy, where the forward may feel he has unfinished business from his days at Inter Milan.
However, he offers Everton a number of benefits and there are several reasons why they shouldn’t entertain the idea of selling him to Sampdoria, unless they receive and unbelievable offer.
His experience is key for a team, which has a lot of younger players coming through the ranks and into key positions.
He’s well placed to be able to offer advice and guidance in terms of how those younger players deal with the media and attention, taking some of the pressure away from Martinez.
He’s also not a bad option to have starting games or coming off the bench as an impact player, as he looks to try and change things in terms of his recent form and becoming an even more important player for the club.
It comes down to how much Everton want to keep him, how much Sampdoria are willing to offer and how happy he is to stay in the Premier League.
