Palermo manager Giuseppe Iachini has confirmed that defender Ezequiel Munoz is currently in talks over his future.
The defender has recently been linked with a move to Spurs, but Iachini has given nothing away in terms of his player’s thinking with regards to whether he’ll stay in Serie A or push for a potential move to Tottenham.
“We have no influence on the market, we only think of the game. About Munoz is thinking about it now, they're talking about, and in this sense there are positive talks to continue. It will be up to both parties to properly evaluate the outcome of the talks,” the Palermo boss is quoted by TMW.
Whether Spurs need another centre back is doubtful considering their current options, but there are reports that Younes Kaboul could be moved on to Besiktas, which would free up a squad space.
Federico Fazio and Jan Vertonghen seem to have settled as the club’s key centre back pairing at the moment, with Eric Dier also available as cover and Vlad Chiriches still at the club.
Munoz certainly fits the bill in terms of what Mauricio Pochettino would more than likely be looking for in a defender joining the club; he’s young, Argentinian and the boss could play on his ambition to represent his national side.
However, there’s no concrete indication of any offer from Spurs and other clubs could come into the equation. It’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
