Moyes explains when he knew Januzaj was ready for United first-team

Adnan Januzaj has received high praise from his former manager at Manchester United.

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has been speaking about Adnan Januzaj in an interview with FourFourTwo magazine.

The Scot is now in charge of La Liga side Real Sociedad and is currently basking in the afterglow of a 1-0 win against Barcelona at the weekend.

Moyes has been linked with a loan move for Januzaj – a player he knows extremely well having given him his senior United debut and seen him blossom as a result.

Speaking in the February edition of the magazine, Moyes revealed just how quickly he decided the teenager was good enough for the United first-team.

“I decided to take him on tour with the first-team within minutes of watching him,” Moyes said. “He wasn’t timid, but hungry to succeed. He was one of the tours bright spots.”

Moyes went on to explain what he thinks sets Januzaj apart from many of the youngsters who try to make it in the game.

“He possesses a level of self-assured arrogance, which is a positive, as he’s not too arrogant. He’s a wonderfully gifted player with great balance and the ability to go past people.”

Januzaj shone during his debut season for United, making 35 appearances, scoring four goals and providing six assists.

This campaign has been far less noteworthy, with the Belgian international appearing 12 times in total but featuring predominantly as a substitute and failing to score or assist thus far.

There is no doubt Januzaj owes Moyes after the faith he showed in the youngster, but now it is up to the player to show Louis van Gaal he deserves a place among the superstars.
