Angel Di Maria has opened up about the future in an interview.
Manchester United’s record signing Angel Di Maria has been speaking about the club’s former star Cristiano Ronaldo and his own hopes for the future.
In an interview with Infobae.com, the 26-year-old revealed that he planned on returning to former club Atletico Rosario Central one day, while also suggesting that the rumours linking Ronaldo with a return to Old Trafford may never be anything more than that.
Speaking about whether Lionel Messi would one day return to Newell’s Old Boys, the United winger said, “I’m going back to play the classic Central v Newell’s. I don’t know what he will do.”
Messi has previously gone on record to say he hopes to end his career back in his homeland and it appears Di Maria has the same idea, with the two Argentine greats potentially duelling in their twilight years…at least in footballing terms.
Di Maria may have only recently signed for United, but it appears he is already thinking about one day leaving, although given his age and his impact at Old Trafford thus far, his new fans needn’t be too worried.
He did have bad news when it came to his former Real Madrid teammate Ronaldo, however.
“I do not think he will come back to Manchester,” Di Maria said. “It is hard to quit Real Madrid.”
That said, it is something Di Maria himself did so who knows what the future may hold. Just as the Argentine wants to play in his homeland again one day, perhaps Ronaldo has one eye on a farewell at the club where he became a star.
