Arsenal forward Joel Campbell has been linked with a loan move to Spanish side Real Sociedad, where he would link up with former Gunner Carlos Vela.
The Costa Rica international was tipped to make his breakthrough at the Emirates Stadium this season, following a succesful spell at Olympiakos. But having made just 10 appearances in all competitions this campaign, and without a goal or an assist in that time, it seems Campbell could be off again.
The latest claims suggest David Moyes is interested in bringing the 22-year-old to La Liga, and if he does so, a former Arsenal player could be key in his development.
Last season Vela developed a fantastic partnership with Antoine Griezmann, who finished the campaign with 20 goals while the Mexican international netted 21 of his own.
This season, Vela has scored six in 16 league games and there is no reason why Campbell’s arrival cannot lift both players to greater heights.
Vela himself was linked with a shock return to Arsenal last season but he could now play a significant role in ensuring Campbell finally shows he is worthy of a future in North London.
If Campbell arrives in Spain and hits it off with Vela, it could benefit Moyes in the short term and Arsenal further down the line.
After all, some would suggest Campbell has not had a fair crack of the whip at the Gunners as yet, and a player who left to further his own career could send him back with a point well and truly proved.
