Ex-Chelsea and Newcastle United star Demba Ba criticises Nottingham Forest over Djamel Abdoun treatment

Stuart Pearce

Demba Ba, formerly at West Ham United, Newcastle United and Chelsea, wants Nottingham Forest to play Djamel Abdoun.

Former Chelsea and Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has criticised Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce for not playing Djamel Abdoun.

Algeria international winger Abdoun has been frozen out of the Forest squad and has yet to make an appearance in the Championship so far this season.

There have been doubts on the commitment and attitude of the 28-year-old, with reports claiming that he could be sold in the January transfer window.

Ba, a former West Ham United striker currently playing for Turkish club Besiktas, believes that Pearce should play Abdoun, describing him as the club’s “best player”.

Forest started the season brilliantly, but they have been struggling for a number of weeks now. But is Abdoun the solution?

Probably not, especially as the Algerian is unlikely to be match fit despite training regularly.

Abdoun is one of the highest earners at Forest and has a contract that runs until June 2016. Perhaps it would be best for Forest if they try to move him on this month.
