Creative director of Borderlands 2 leaves Gearbox Software

Paul Hellquist Robot Entertainment

The Orcs Must Die devs gain a new member from the devs behind Borderlands.

Paul Hellquist, creative director on Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2, has left the company to join indie developer Robot Entertainment.

The announcement of Hellquist's hiring was posted on Robot Entertainment's website by the developer's CEO Patrick Hudson yesterday. In the announcement Hudson says:

"I spent a considerable amount of time with Paul recently, and I was consistently impressed with his breadth of thinking, passion for great design, and humility. His remarkable portfolio of work is clearly well-earned. Paul is a great fit for Robot, and I expect him to have a profound impact on the games we make, starting with Orcs Must Die! Unchained."

Hellquist was at Gearbox Software for over seven years and worked as creative director on Borderlands 2 most recently.
