The West London pair were only behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in a recent study on player value.

Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Diego Costa are the third and fourth most valuable players in world football, according to a new study.

The International Centre for Sports Studies Football Observatory is an independent study centre based in Switzerland, which has released the latest value findings.

With data such as previous transfer fees, contract length, age and current club taken into account, Hazard was adjudged to be worth €99 million currently.

Costa, who joined the Blues in the summer from Atletico Madrid, was fourth on the list and was valued at €84 million. The top ten players can be seen in the graphic below.

Global list

Other Premier League players making the cut included Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, Alexis Sanchez and another Chelsea star, Cesc Fabregas.

The study has compiled the 100 top-valued players in the world and it will be no surprise to see that Real Madrid have the most stars in the list, with 11 of the Santiago Bernabeu first team making the cut.

Lionel Messi was adjudged to be a whopping €87 million more valuable than nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although the results will not surely not be overly scrutinised by the powers that be at Chelsea, it is another indication of the importance of Hazard to the club.

To be viewed as the third most valuable player on the planet shows just how far he has developed since moving to Stamford Bridge from Lille back in 2012.
