Arsenal legend Ian Wright gives strongly worded Gerrard opinion

Steven Gerrard Euro 2012 England

The former Gunner believes someone at Liverpool has messed up 'royally' for their skipper to be leaving in the fashion he is.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has added his view to the ongoing debate surrounding Steven Gerrard and Liverpool.

And the former Premier League striker has been rather blunt to put it mildly.

Indeed, Wright, who enjoyed terrific success up front for the Gunners, took to Twitter to express his view on Gerrard leaving the Reds.

The issue, according to him, lies not with the skipper himself - and the Arsenal icon believes someone at Liverpool has 'royally' messed up (or words to that end...) in order for the 34-year-old to be leaving Anfield for free at the end of the season.

Gerrard is widely expected to confirm a summer move from Liverpool to LA Galaxy this week, although the captain himself insists he doesn't have a bad word to say about boss Brendan Rodgers.

According to former Arsenal man Wright, though, someone - even if not Rodgers - has done something wrong somewhere down the line.

Gerrard scored twice for Liverpool during their 2-1 FA Cup win at AFC Wimbledon on Monday night.
