Zarate only signed for the Hammers this summer, but he failed to have the desired impact at the Boleyn Ground and has had to go out on loan to get first-team football.
The Argentinian creator has played just eight times for West Ham, scoring twice, and never fully adapted to Allardyce's methods.
Zarate struggled to find a route into the team because of the success the club have experienced since the start of the campaign, with Allardyce overlooking him in favour of numerous other attacking options
Zarate's departure, therefore, was not too surprising, but it has still been a disappointing turn of events for many West Ham fans.
They feel that he had more to offer than Kevin Nolan, who Allardyce seems determined to persist with, and are frustrated that he wasn't given more of a chance to impress.
Here is the best of the reaction from West Ham fans to Zarate's move to QPR on social media site Twitter.
Zarate news isn't as bad as fans are making out. He's v greedy and rarely has the quality to justify it. Bad timing with ACON though #whufc— Freddie Harding (@freddie7h) January 6, 2015
I do not know how nolan is still at the club and gets played over zarate— Jack Martin-kenny (@whufc_Jmk) January 6, 2015
Sad to see Zarate bombed out, but more concerned £14m Enner Valencia isn't a guaranteed starter given his status within the game. #whufc— Barry Russell (@BarryRussell1) January 6, 2015
Letting zarate go before afcon is stupid and unforgivable #whufc— Sean Overy (@Expl_ove_sion) January 6, 2015
So Zarate joins a rival, 3 key players go to the ACON for a month Reid is leaving. @whufc_official this was a bad day...— Mike Osborn (@MichaelOsborn) January 5, 2015
