Tottenham Hotspur face competition for Palermo’s Ezequiel Munoz from Spartak Moscow - report

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Palermo defender Ezequiel Munoz in the January transfer window, as are West Ham United and Everton.

Ezequiel Munoz’s future could become clearer in the next few days, as the Tottenham Hotspur-linked player’s agent is set to hold talks with Palermo.

The 24-year-old defender’s current contract with Palermo runs out at the end of the season, and at the moment there are no signs that an agreement over a new deal will be reached soon.

However, to facilitate contract negotiations, Munoz’s agent will travel to Sicily to hold talks with the Italian club officials, according to Tuttomercatoweb, as reported by Sport Witness.

Spartan Moscow are also interested in the Argentine, but the report claims that the centre-back is not interested in playing in the Russian Premier League.

It seems that Palermo want to keep hold of Munoz beyond next summer, but one wonders why Spurs would be interested in signing him this month.

Tottenham do have enough central defenders and do not need another one, especially as Munoz is only going to be a back-up.

Perhaps the North London club want to secure his signature now instead of fighting with other clubs in the summer.

Everton and West Ham United are also reported to be interested in Munoz, but their need for a centre-back this month is understandable.
