Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho is said to be among the five players who could make a huge splash in the January transfer window, and he is in very good company.
According to a report in Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, the alleged Arsenal target could make a considerable impact this month, along with Marco Reus, Martin Odegaard, Wilfried Bony and Edinson Cavani.
There is no doubt all five players would be welcomed by clubs across the globe, but while the other four reportedly have a number of suitors, William is linked with Arsenal time and again.
Once it was Manchester United, but David Moyes’ departure quickly put an end to that particular story, and now Arsenal are said to be readying another bid, having allegedly failed to sign the 22-year-old in the summer.
Recent reports have claimed Arsenal are prepared to pay £25.5million for the Portuguese international who has what it takes to complete the Gunners’ midfield.
Such is his talent that William will be linked with a move away from Sporting during every transfer window until the rumours become reality, but could this be the one?
The press in his own country certainly appear to think so…
