Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva has given a positive injury update - from a hospital bed.
The Brazilian underwent surgery on a fractured cheekbone this Tuesday, suffered in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Yeovil.
It had been speculated he could face weeks on the sidelines, but his statement that he will be back in training is fantastic news for the club.
United also received news Luke Shaw could also make a swift return from his ankle problems, and Daley Blind is also reported to be closing on a comeback.
Van Gaal had praised Rafael's ability to carry on playing with his injury as 'unbelievable', and it is still possible the defender wears a protective mask as a precaution if selected this weekend against Southampton.
