Royal Bank of Canada hired Brian Tunick from JPMorgan to expand equity coverage of U.S. consumer companies at its capital-markets business.

Bloomberg News reports that Tunick, 41, is a managing director for RBC Capital Markets in New York, and oversees coverage of U.S. specialty apparel and accessories, department stores, and discount retailers, the firm said today in an e-mailed statement. He reports to Marc Harris, head of global research.

Bloomberg also reports that Lisa Friis, Deutsche Bank’s chief operating officer of investment banking coverage and advisory for Asia, has left the bank, following the departure of Noah Ward from the region.

Ward, COO for Hong Kong, will become chief administrative officer in the U.K., according to a memo confirmed by Candice Sun, a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman at the bank. He was replaced by Gaurav Mital on Jan. 1, the document showed.
