Michael Owen predicts Everton v West Ham United

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen looks ahead to today's FA Cup third-round tie between Everton and West Ham United.

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has predicted Everton to win today’s FA Cup third-round tie against West Ham United.

The Toffees will host the Hammers at Goodison Park and will head into the clash on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Hull City away from home in the Premier League.

Roberto Martinez’s Everton are in a poor run of form at the moment and have lost their last four league matches, but Owen expects them to return to winning ways today.

“It is well documented that it wasn’t the best of festive periods for Everton but, with home advantage, I can see them just making it through to the 4th round at the first attempt given the Hammers’ might want to concentrate on consolidating their PL position,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.

While Owen is right in claiming that West Ham’s priority is the Premier League, the fact that the London club will also want to return to winning ways today cannot be denied.

Sam Allardyce’s side have dropped valuable points over the festive period in their (unlikely?) quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.

Perhaps the Hammers are not too keen on winning the FA Cup this season, but they will certainly be looking to emerge victorious tonight.
