The agent of Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto says he hopes to announce the player's new destination soon.
With Simon Mignolet's Liverpool career in a state of flux, manager Brendan Rodgers is widely expected to sign a new shot stopper in the January transfer window.
Second choice Brad Jones is out injured and clearly not good enough to be the regular first team goalkeeper, leading to a number of names being linked with moves to Anfield.
Chelsea's Petr Cech, Sheffield Wednesday's Keiren Westwood and Stoke City's Asmir Begovic have all been touted as possible targets for Rodgers.
Yet the top target appears to be Fiorentina's Brazilian goalkeeper Neto, who told the Serie A club that he will be leaving at the end of his contract this summer.
The 25-year-old has impressed in Italy since his move from Atletico Paranaense in 2011, and has also attracted interest from Juventus and Roma.
With his contract in Florence ending in six months time, Fiorentina have a decision to make - either sell Neto now or let him leave for nothing in the summer.
Liverpool will be hoping that it's now amid rumours that they've submitted a £3m for Neto, and the player's agent hopes that his client's destination will be confirmed soon.
"We talked to Fiorentina, but Neto did not want to renew. From now, he is free to talk to other clubs. We are pleased that newspapers speak of top clubs interested in him. Neto is doing well, but we have not yet reached an agreement with other teams. We are still far from knowing where he will go but we hope that he will sign for a new club soon," said Stefano Castagna.
