Liverpool player ratings against Wimbledon: Gerrard the star as Lambert flops

Giant Anfield Flag

Here are our Liverpool player ratings for the FA Cup win against Wimbledon last night.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard saved the day with a brace against Wimbledon, which put his team through to the next round of the FA Cup.

It wasn’t Liverpool’s best performance by any means but they did what they had to do, getting over the line with a very gritty and aggressive display.

Here are our player ratings for Liverpool’s stars from last night.

Mignolet – 5

One moment he was pulling off top class saves, the next he was struggling to deal with crosses.

Can – 5

Looked a little slow off the mark and will feel he was beaten too easily.

Skrtel – 6

Improved in the second half but looked lethargic and a little complacent during the first 45.

Sakho – 6

Used the ball more effectively than his Liverpool colleagues, playing it out nicely from the back.

Manquillo – 6

Looked good and in control until he was taken off. The different setting and physical approach from Wimbledon didn’t seem to bother him.

Henderson – 7

Started quickly as he always does. Busy in midfield but was anonymous for a couple of spells during the game.

Lucas – 7

Broke up the play in midfield well and distributed effectively in all areas. A decent display.

Markovic – 6

Showed glimpses of what he’s capable of, but was too inconsistent.

Gerrard – 8

Led from the front and got on the end of key chances when his team needed him to.

Coutinho – 6

Tried to do too much at times when simple passes and balls would have been the better option.

Lambert – 5

This game should have been right up his street but he wasn’t able to show Rodgers anything, which suggests he’s the club’s number one striker.

Subs:

Enrique – 4

Final ball was woeful but added some extra width to Liverpool’s play.

Balotelli – N/A

Toure – N/A
