Gerrard: I would have stayed if...

Steven Gerrard revealed last week that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, with a move to America now expected. There are still many unanswered questions for Liverpool fans, but Gerrard has addressed one of them - he's admitted he'd have stayed at Anfield if the Reds had offered him a new contract in the summer.

"Yes, if a contract had been put in front of me in pre-season I would have signed it," he said. "I’d just retired from England to concentrate all my efforts on Liverpool. I didn’t want my club games to be tailored. My injury record had been fantastic for the past two and a half years and I had a great season from a personal point of view last season."

"It’s all ifs, buts and hindsight now. That period between the summer and the end of November gave me thinking time. There’s no blame and I’m not angry about it. There are other people in the squad and the club had other things to worry about. Liverpool Football Club have been unbelievable for me since I was eight years old. This club has helped me fulfil my dreams over and over again," added Gerrard.

Suso closing in on Milan exit

It's been an on-running story for months now, but AC Milan finally seem to be on the verge of signing Liverpool midfielder Suso.

The Spaniard has had few opportunities at Anfield since returning from his loan deal at Almeria, and his agent admitted that a deal could be close.

"Yes, I confirm that there is an agreement between Milan and Suso for 4 years. Can he get to Milan in January? There's a chance, we'll see at the end of the market what happens," said Jaime Serra.

Lille play down Origi departure rumours

With Liverpool needing an attacking spark, recent reports have suggested that the Reds will look to recall Belgian international Divock Origi from his loan at Lille.

A €6m cancellation fee would need to be paid to bring Origi back to Anfield, with Lille president Michel Seydoux saying that they have had no contact from Liverpool over a deal.

"There is no official offer from Liverpool. For the moment (Divock) Origi is at Lille and we count on him," said Seydoux.
