QPR target Jermain Defoe provides fitness update on Twitter

Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers target Jermain Defoe has provided a positive update on his fitness on the social media site.

Jermain Defoe says that he is feeling fitter than ever having landed in England earlier this morning.

The striker is reportedly of interest to Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City, with the two sides hoping to bring him in on a permanent deal during the January transfer window.

Defoe is desperate for a move back to England after his switch to FC Toronto at the beginning of 2014 failed to work out.

The 32-year-old had a good scoring in MLS, but supporters of the Canadian side never took to him and there were concerns that the drop in standard of football could have a detrimental affect on the experienced striker's career.

However, his update today on his fitness appears to be a positive one and he will be determined to prove that he can still perform a function in the Premier League if he does return.

Leicester are thought to be the most likely club to sign him, but FC Toronto's £6 million asking price is proving to be a stumbling block.

Hull City were also linked with Defoe, but manager Steve Bruce has admitted that the ex-Tottenham man is too expensive.
