A reported Arsenal target looks set for accelerated talks regarding his future.
Benfica winger Goncalo Guedes has generated plenty of headlines in recent times, despite only making his senior debut this season.
The 18-year-old was linked with Arsenal late last year, with the Daily Mail claiming it could take a bid in the region of £40million to sign the player.
Back then it was claimed that was the release-clause Benfica planned to include in Guedes’ new deal, but as of yet no new agreement has been signed, which leads us to the latest reports.
Portuguese newspaper Record claims Arsenal’s interest – along with that of Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan – is speeding up the left-sided player’s contract negotiations.
Guedes made his debut for Benfica in the Taca de Portugal this season, before getting one minute of league action against Penafiel at the weekend.
It has been suggested that Guedes will be sent out on loan this month to speed up his development, but Arsenal may be watching his current situation very carefully.
After all, if he does not sign a new deal the Gunners could get one of Europe’s most exciting young prospects for far less than that mooted £40million.
