Celtic have been linked with a move for Libyan midfielder Ahmad Benali.
Celtic have been named as one of the clubs interested in midfielder Ahmad Benali.
The 22-year-old currently plays for Italian Serie B side Brescia, but is attracting considerable interest this transfer window.
Italian website TMW report Celtic are interested in signing the central midfielder, but face tough competition from Serie A sides Torino, Sassuolo, and most notably their Europa League opponents Inter Milan.
Benali has impressed this season, scoring four times and providing two assists in 20 appearances. Brescia are in financial difficulty which makes them open to a sale of players like Benali.
The midfielder has been at the club for three seasons, after he was released by Manchester City having been part of their academy at under-18 and under-21 level, even sent on loan to Rochdale.
Celtic currently have two City players in on loan, Jason Denayer and John Guidetti, while midfielder Nir Bitton once had a trial and played in pre-season for the English champions.
Previously an England under-19 international, Benali has switched his international allegiance and has represented Libya, for who he has one cap to date.
