Liverpool can sign Tottenham Hotspur-linked Saido Berahino only if they sell Fabio Borini - report

Saido Berahino

West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino is reportedly on the radars of both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool will make a bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino once they sell Fabio Borini, according to a report.

The Merseyside outfit are believed to be on the lookout for a striker and have identified Berahino as one of their top targets.

The 21-year-old has not had a great season, but he has come into some form following four goals in a 7-0 hammering of Gateshead in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

England Under-21 international Berahino has also been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, although some reports are claiming that the North London outfit are looking elsewhere.

The Sun now claims that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been told that he can sign the youngster in a £23 million deal, but “he must first recoup some cash by getting shot of Borini”.

Italy international striker Borini is currently the Reds’ fourth-choice striker and has struggled for playing time so far this season.

The 23-year-old former Chelsea man has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield, but one wonders how much a club would be willing to pay for him.

Borini was expected to leave Liverpool in the summer, but he eventually stayed back. Having not played much, his price will certainly be low.

If Liverpool genuinely want Berahino this month, then they should start preparing an offer. Waiting to sell Borini first could cost them dear.
