Given their campaign to date, it would be no surprise if Liverpool made a splash or two in the January transfer window, but the latest reports suggest a 19-year-old could be the first to arrive.
Keita Balde Diao is a winger-cum-forward who was reportedly the subject of a failed bid by the Reds last summer, but now the Lazio youngster has found himself back in the rumour mill.
Italian newspaper Il Tempo reports that while Inter Milan are interested in the player, they could be priced out of a move with his current club demanding €20million and Liverpool waiting in the wings.
The story goes on to claim that Keita had vowed to fight for his place at Lazio and would review his situation in December.
Well, that situation has now allegedly been well and truly reviewed, and after making just seven Serie A appearances to date – and only nine in all competitions – his future could be away from Lazio.
The report claims the club could cash in on the player in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play rules, with the Spanish-born youngster sure to fetch a tidy sum if he does move on.
The big question is: Would Liverpool bring in yet another teenager having only recently signed Divock Origi and with the need for ready-made stars in Brendan Rodgers’ side?
