The Liverpool loanee's performance against Wrexham displeased a lot of Stoke fans - despite him being awarded the man-of-the-match award!
Liverpool loanee Assaidi was voted man of the match by sponsors as Stoke came back from behind to beat Wrexham on Sunday afternoon.
But many supporters were left bewildered by that choice - which seemed to represent a wider trend of dissatisfaction with a poor performance from the Potters.
"At 1-0, I thought we were going out to be perfectly honest. We didn't play anything like we should have done and credit to Wrexham, they were excellent," Stoke boss Mark Hughes told BBC Sport after the Cup tie.
"In the end we got away wit it. We made changes at the end to try to get some craft into our play and thankfully Stephen Ireland took the game away from them."
Assaidi's display did please some fans, with the on-loan Liverpool winger commended by a few for his willingness to get at Wrexham.
Most Stoke supporters were far from impressed, though, with several taking to social media with their wish that the 26-year-old be returned to Liverpool this January. Some were joking - some weren't. Their displeasure with his ability to beat a man seemed pretty genuine all round, however...
Wollscheid, winger, striker in. Send Assaidi back to Liverpool, Huth(sadly), Palacios, Adam out. Would be a decent transfer window— Matt (@Matt_scfc10) January 4, 2015
It says a lot about Assaidi when he is still absolutely frightened to take on a Conference fullback, what hope does he have vs PL ones?— MozzaaTheResearcher (@Mozzaa92) January 4, 2015
Assaidi cuts inside! And again. And again. And again. And again. The whole team is back to defend now. Cuts inside again. He loses the ball— Matt Edge (@Kingstokie) January 4, 2015
But how did Assaidi get man of the match?— GwgigglerFM (@GwgigglerFM) January 4, 2015
