Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has highlighted the recent impact made by Francis Coquelin.
The midfielder was impressive in the match against Hull City, getting stuck in and ensuring the club did not miss the injured Mathieu Flamini in midfield.
Coquelin won eight aerial duels, more than any player on the pitch, and six interceptions - a figure only matched by Hector Bellerin.
Wenger told Arsenal.com: "I think he’s a satisfaction over the Christmas period. Francis has done well in all the three games he’s played.
"He’s matured a lot and he’s very strong in the fight. I would say I have a very positive impression of his last three games."
The Frenchman was out on loan with Charlton Athletic only a month ago, and was recalled in early December to help the Gunners out due to an injury crisis.
His performances have given him a new lease of life when his career at the club appeared over, and there is a chance he could yet earn an extension to his contract which is currently set to expire at the end of this season.
