Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have missed out on the signing of Uruguayan sensation Kevin Mendez.
Last week both club were linked with a move for the teenage striker by the Italian press and in The Star, with the Gunners said to be in pole position for player previously hailed by countryman Luis Suarez.
Both have been beaten to his signature however by Roma, who are to send him immediately on loan to Serie B side Perugia.
Perugia24.net report Mendez has landed in Italy and is to undergo a medical with the Italian side today (Monday).
Mendez, 19, later this month, has been signed from Penarol for the bargain fee of €2 million, potentially rising to €3 million.
It's the second time in a year Roma have beaten Arsenal to the signing of a talented South American striker, 12 months ago signing Antonio Sanabria from Barcelona.
