Manchester United made hard work of their FA Cup third round match against Yeovil Town on Sunday.
The hosts gave it all they had and were on course for a famous draw before United midfielder Ander Herrera scored a sublime goal out of nothing to put Louis van Gaal's side ahead.
Angel Di Maria put the game to bed with a late second but United's defence was not given a moment to relax, with the Dutchman forced into a tactical reshuffle at the interval.
Paddy McNair started the match as one of three centre-backs but was shifted to full-back after the break.
It was the 19-year-old's 10th appearance of the season and while United kept a welcome clean-sheet, the Northern Irishman and fellow defender Tyler Blackett will both have better games in the future.
After the match, we took to Twitter to see what United fans made of McNair's performance and below you can read a selection of what we found:
It's almost as if Paddy McNair is both good & bad. Schrödinger's footballer.— Alwyn Payne (@AlwynPayne) January 4, 2015
Paddy McNair has been our most impressive youngster to come through this season #MUFC— عزيز (@HamadTaher) January 4, 2015
Great Plan B from LVG sticking McNair & Blackett to FBs in the 2nd half. Perhaps it's the way to play against giant route one teams?— Yer Man (@Drawski5) January 4, 2015
Poor from united tday, fletcher never found feet all day & young McNair terrifies me.still, job done, next round! #FACup— Ronnie Napier (@Ronnie2383) January 4, 2015
Poor 1st half... the only person i've talked about this whole half has been McNair— VivaJuanMata (@H_O_1997) January 4, 2015
Don't think Blackett and Mcnair will ever be good enough. It's unnatural to be that bad at passing a football.— Luke Tregidgo (@Luke_Tregidgo) January 4, 2015
