Harry Redknapp blasted Adel Taarabt earlier in the season for apparently being ‘three stone overweight’.
The enigmatic playmaker finds himself on the fringes of the fold at Queens Park Rangers as a result, with questions raised on a regular basis as to his commitment to the cause and dedication to his profession.
He is, however, still generating transfer talk in the January window, with a return to AC Milan – where he took in a successful loan spell last season - being mooted.
Taarabt would appear to be some way short of full match fitness, though.
The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations would have given him an opportunity to work on the physical side of his game, but Morocco will play no part after withdrawing as hosts.
Taarabt has been catching up with international colleagues, though, with countryman Marouane Chamakh playing his football not far from Loftus Road at Crystal Palace.
It appears from the image above that Taarabt’s lack of competitive football this season has done little to dampen his mood.
He is, however, looking far from svelte and may have to start hitting the gym a little harder if Redknapp is to bury the hatchet and offer him a Premier League recall.
Milan would also be expecting him to put in more of an effort off the field if they are to reinvest in his undoubted ability and bring him back to Serie A.
