The reports linking Adrien Rabiot with a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur continue, but they seemingly came out of nowhere when the Frenchman was first tipped to move to White Hart Lane.
Up until then, the 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder had been linked with Spurs’ North London neighbours Arsenal and Italian club AS Roma; so why Tottenham’s sudden alleged interest?
French publication Le Parisien claims Tottenham’s recently-appointed head of recruitment Paul Mitchell is the man to have identified Rabiot. In fact the latest story goes so far as to claim Mitchell has made the teenager a priority target due to his time watching youth tournaments while at Southampton.
The weekend report states that while Tottenham want the gifted midfielder, PSG manager Laurent Blanc is still to decide whether or not to sanction a temporary move.
Given that Rabiot has been used so sparingly this season, it would be no surprise if the mooted loan move went through in the coming days.
After all, the French side would have nothing to lose from the deal, while Tottenham could replace Nabil Bentaleb, who is soon to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations, while adding a talented option to their much-maligned midfield.
