Michael Owen predicts Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen looks ahead to today’s FA Cup third-round tie between Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen does not believe that Tottenham Hotspur will win against Burnley today.

Spurs head into the FA Cup third-round tie at Turf Moor on the back of a sensational victory over Chelsea in the Premier League, but Owen believes that the Clarets will deny them a win.

“The FA Cup might not be a priority for the Clarets but I still think they can get a replay against a Spurs side who were excellent against Chelsea on Thursday,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Both sides are likely to shuffle their respective packs after the busy Xmas period and there is unlikely to be much between the sides at Turf Moor.”

Owen’s prediction is likely to be disagreed upon by many football followers, especially as Tottenham are a superior team (on paper at least) and are in good form.

However, with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino likely to make a number of changes to his team, Burnley could stage an upset.

Playing at home will also give the promoted Premier League outfit some advantage, but for them to win or even draw manager Sean Dyche needs to play his best available players.
