Leeds United travelled to the Stadium of Light on Sunday for a FA Cup third round match against Sunderland.
The Whites' manager Neil Redfearn opted for a much-changed side with the likes of Casper Sloth, Brian Montenegro and Dario Del Fabro all starting against the Black Cats, and despite a 1-0 defeat there was much for Leeds fans to be proud of.
A young Leeds side competed well against their top flight opponents, with Del Fabro forming a fine partnership with regular centre-back Liam Cooper.
The pair ensured Sunderland did not add to Patrick can Aanholt's first-half goal, with Leeds looking solid in the second period.
They were unable to find an equaliser, with Cooper coming the closest; his late header hitting the woodwork, but Del Fabro did well for a 19-year-old making his debut.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Leeds fans thought of the teenager's performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
I would stick with Cooper and Del Fabro for the league game against Bolton next week— ian (@ianhughes_) January 4, 2015
Very decent since HT, though sad to say Del Fabro is exhibiting the same self destruct button that seems to come as standard with LUFC CBs— Adam J (@Ken_DeMange) January 4, 2015
Del fabro sounds quality, been a solid debut so far— Simon pollock (@Leeds_sie84) January 4, 2015
Is Del Fabro good enough to keep Pearce out forever?— Leeds All Over (@LeedsAllOver) January 4, 2015
Oh well! Happy with del fabro, keep him in the side— Aaron (@aclufc23) January 4, 2015
Austin and Murphy had decent game for me. Cooper/Del Fabro partnership shows some promise. Food for thought for Redfearn.— leedshippriest (@leedshippriest) January 4, 2015
