Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho has said that the players need to “focus and enjoy” the match against Burnley today.
Spurs will take on fellow Premier League outfit Burnley at Turf Moor in the third round of the FA Cup.
The North London outfit will head into the tie on the back of a 5-3 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League on New Year’s Day and will be favourites to emerge victorious.
Brazil international Paulinho is not getting carried away and told Tottenham’s official website: “We know it will be a difficult game but we also know that if we play like we did on New Year’s Day against Chelsea then it will be possible to win.
“We have to be focused and ready for whatever Burnley throw at us. It will be a hard game because when we played them in the league they gave us a difficult match.
“Burnley are a good side so we’ll have to go there, focus and enjoy the game like we did against Chelsea.
“We can go on a run in the FA Cup – we have to help each other out on the pitch and if we do that then we can go a long way in every cup competition.”
Meanwhile, Burnley winger George Boyd has urged the fans to get behind the team against Tottenham.
The 29-year-old Scotland international reached the final of the FA Cup with Hull City last season and is targeting another cup run.
“It's a great game and hopefully there'll be a big crowd at Turf Moor to get behind us,” Sky Sports quotes Boyd as saying.
"The FA Cup still has that magic and I was lucky enough to get to the final last year with Hull City and that was a great occasion.”
Tottenham will be favourites to win today, but Burnley could stage an upset. With the home fans behind the team, the Clarets will certainly expect to at least draw and take the tie into a replay.
