The latest transfer talk you need to know...

Sterling news for Liverpool

A report earlier today suggested that Real Madrid were ready to snap up Raheem Sterling from Liverpool in a massive £40 million deal. However it is now being reported that Liverpool are set to tie down a deal for their star player.

In a week when Steven Gerrard announced he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season the club needed a boost, it seems like this is just that.

Sterling has been discussing a new deal with the club for a number of months now in negotiations which have had some fans concerned that he could be on his way out of the club.

But it looks as though he is set to sign a new deal at Liverpool until 2020 after his agents and Liverpool met in the middle of their respective £70k-a-week and £120k-a-week demands.

City want Drax

Julian Draxler is known as a long-term target for Arsenal. But the German international is now a reported transfer target for Manchester City.

It is reported this evening that City are readying a £25 million bid for the German international, who is currently out of action with a thigh injury.

The deal came about after Schalke approached City to ask about the availability of Serbian defender Matija Nastasic.

Vlaar to Napoli

Ron Vlaar is believed to be ready to leave Aston Villa but he will not be joining Manchester United or Southampton as previously suggested.

Instead he is set to join up with Rafa Benitez at Napoli.

The Dutchman's contract expires at the end of the season and he is believed to want an early exit in order to facilitate his move to Italy.

Swap shop for Newcastle

Finally and Newcastle United have been linked with a sensational swap deal that would see Yohan Cabaye return to the club from Paris Saint-Germain.

It is believed that PSG are willing to send the French international back to St James Park, in return for current midfield star Moussa Sissoko.

Sissoko is also wanted by Arsenal but with the promise of Cabaye's return a deal with PSG seems far more likely.
