Manchester United right-back Rafael has revealed why he is going to be taking this season’s FA Cup campaign very seriously.
The Brazilian reportedly still has something to prove to his manager Louis van Gaal, with many believing that for all his endeavour he is still an accident waiting to happen. But he is clearly a fan favourite, and he opened up about England’s famous knockout competition in comments published by the Manchester Evening News.
“When I get old and speak to my kids, if I can say I won everything with Manchester United it will be fantastic,” he said.
“It’s a trophy I’m looking to win, definitely.”
The 24-year-old has won the Premier League title and the League Cup but wants a clean-sweep of domestic honours, meaning third round opponents Yeovil had better be prepared for quite a match.
The likes of Dani Alves, Juan Cuadrado and Seamus Coleman have all been linked with United in recent months, with Rafael’s future in doubt. But whatever it may hold, he clearly wants to do his best in the FA Cup this season, so that story for his children can be complete.
