Gary Lineker jokes about Pulis's first game in charge at West Brom

Tony Pulis Interview - 23/02/2014

The new Baggies boss entered the dugout as his side beat Gateshead 7-0 in the cup.

West Brom's 7-0 FA Cup win over Gateshead was a strange game, to say the least

In the first half, the Baggies looked second best to the non-league side for large periods.

Then, suddenly, all the goals seemed to come at once - and Saido Berahino in particular ran riot.

Whether it was coincidence or not, meanwhile, new boss Tony Pulis seemed to sort things out for West Brom when he left the stands and entered the dugout.

That little factoid prompted Gary Lineker to make a typically cheeky but obvious joke on Twitter in true Linekeresque fashion.

The Match of the Day host then followed his tweet up by retweeting some abuse he received for the post, as well as a couple of replies emphasising the fact West Brom were 'only playing Gateshead.'

It is interesting to consider, though, the difference between West Brom against 'only' Gateshead before Pulis entered the dugout - when they were poor and lifeless - and afterwards.
