The Cameroonian talent is to join Ajax when his contract at Barcelona expires this summer.
In the summer Arsenal were linked with a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Andre Onana. The young Cameroonian saw his chances of regular football at the Nou Camp slammed shut by the summer arrivals of Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen in Catalonia.
With that in mind he was believed to be considering his options, however nothing came of it in the summer.
But now it is being reported in Spain that the club are insistent on signing the stopper.
It was reported in Sport two months ago that Barcelona are losing the battle to keep hold of the stopper. He has shone in performances for the club's youth teams this season and with his deal expiring at the end of the season it has also been reported that dignitaries of Arsenal's youth system have snooped around with purpose.
With the recent performance of Wojciech Szczesny this interest may have been growing in credence as the month drifted on.
Except, it is now too late. Onana has now signed a deal elsewhere for next season, joining Dutch giants Ajax.
Onana has signed a three-year pre-contract agreement with the Dutch outfit where he will be hoping to have more regular opportunities in the first-team.
Arsenal will have to look elsewhere if a goalkeeper is on their wish-list this winter.
