Arsenal and Chelsea linked defender Tyrone Mings does not expect imminent Ipswich Town exit

The talented defender has caught Premier League eyes with his performances this season.

Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings has recently found himself in the spotlight after a tremendous season in The Championship with The Tractor Boys, which has attracted the interest of some rather illustrious Premier League teams.

The former Southampton talent is said to be interesting both Arsenal and Chelsea, who would like to bring in a young and talented defender at a cut price.

Chelsea's current defensive partnership of Gary Cahill and John Terry won't last forever and Mings could battle with Kurt Zouma to take either of their places in the team. Meanwhile Arsenal desperately need defensive reinforcements, with their lack of options being shown on several occasions this season.

Tomorrow Mings takes on his former team Southampton in the FA Cup and will have the opportunity to impress against top Premier League opposition.

But talking to Sky Sports this morning he made it clear that he was currently happy with the Tractor Boys and that no deal was yet being discussed:

“I haven’t received any offers. It’s very easy to keep doing what I am doing. The speculation has come from me playing well at Ipswich and getting the opportunity here so that’s all I can continue to do, to play well and keep my attention here.

“I don’t know if an offer would turn my head. We have to wait for that day to come but I doubt it would. I am absolutely confident I will be here at the end of January. I don’t see a reason why anything else would happen.”

So it would seem neither Arsenal or Chelsea have yet acted on their apparent interest in the player, who looks set to remain a Tractor Boy until the end of the season.
